Engineering college seat hike subjected to HC verdict

The Odisha High Court directed the BPUT and OJEE authorities to bring out advertisements mentioning that the validity of enhanced B.Tech seats in government colleges of the State are subjected to the court’s decision on the main writ petition.

A Division Bench of the court comprising Justices Indrajit Mohanty and DP Choudhury in an interim order said the court had passed an interim order on June 30, 2015 stating that the six government engineering colleges have enhanced their B.Tech seats for the 2015-16 academic sessions pending an approval from the AICTE.

However, when the court observed that the colleges through the OJEE are admitting students against the unapproved enhanced seats, the court observed that any action taken shall be subjected to the petition and this ought to be brought to the notice of the aspiring students.
